The Business Accounting (Contabilitatea afacerilor) master program is delivered entirely in English, being offered by the Faculty of Accounting and Management Information Systems of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania. The program offers training ensuring examination for the ACCA qualification. Upon completion, graduates receive the MSc diploma of the ASE, and 9 exemptions (the maximum offered) from the ACCA's curriculum, regardless their prior bachelor studies (students to not have to hold ASE or accounting bachelor degrees to receive the exemptions). The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the largest global organization of accountants, with more than 260,000 students and 110,000 members in 170 countries. It has 75 offices worldwide. The ACCA, via its programs, offers high quality education in accordance with the standards of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
Classes are only held during weekends (4 full days of training for each course, Saturdays and Sundays), which permits students to work during week time, and attend courses during weekends. Exams are scheduled within 2 weeks after the completion of each course. The curriculum is organized in 4 semesters (2 years), and comprises the 12 mandatory courses from the ACCA's curriculum (4 per semester), 2 of the 4 elective courses from the ACCA's 4 elective courses, as well as a research seminar and an internship module, to complete ASE's academic requirements.
The extremely reasonable cost of 2,000 EUR per year applicable to Romanian students enrolling in the program in the 2018-2019 academic year includes all training materials required, as well as the training. Materials are published by publishers accredited by the ACCA, and are distributed to all students based on volume discounts obtained from the publishers. Purchasing such materials on an individual basis is extremely costly. Quality training is done by experienced trainers and academics. Foreign students of ASE are subject to different tuition fees and need to clear official paperwork with ASE before they can be registered for classes. Registration with ASE is therefore required as early as possible (over the summer), as course materials are ordered before the beginning of the academic year on 20 September of every year.
